Ernst Kirchsteiger
It is an honour for us at Ljungbergs to be able to introduce our own "home-decorating guru", Ernst Kirchsteiger, as one of our new designers of this year, 2011. Ernst has become known as a really nimble-fingered and handy man and a very talented home-decorator, constantly on the go for new challenges. It could not have escaped anybody that Ernst can alson do carpentry and pottery, he can cook, sow and plant and in addition to all this he is a skilful drawer. So why should he not be able to make textile designs? Ernst has created three patterns which we print on two different weaves, one on Ecological cotton-rep and the other on levely pure linen quality.
RINGBLOMMA (Marigold) in sparkling colours has a magnificent combination of colours that makes us think of a vibrant summer garden with its orange marigold flowers against the grass-green background. The little red snail, trailing its way along the stalk and the leaves of the flower is a delightful accent!
Is it too bold to say that Ernst has created a new classic? No, not really, because this pattern, HUMLE (Hop) gives us a feeling of having been created many hundred years ago. At the same time, however, it gives us the impression of being incredibly innovative and modern. Ernst has cleverly drawn the twining tendrils and foliage of the hop and the very special little flower. The little blue snail is "snailing" its way along the tendrils through the whole pattern. Isn't this the ultimate material for your garden, your summer house or - why not - your modern villa?
LÄNGTANS TRÄDGÅRD (The garden of longing) is a delightful pattern with an incredibly vital feel to it, with its twining stalks and rich foliage, exciting small flowers and a little light-blue bird of paradise, recurring here and there in the pattern. You feel happy when you look at this fanciful pattern; a flirt, maybe, with our own traditional Swedish cucurbita-painting style, richly decorated floral motif in Dalecarlian painting, but in Ernst's own modern interpretation.
Together with Ernst we have created a series of textile products for home and garden. See the products here (web catalogue).
